Jim Hall – Jazz in Marciac (2009)

Jim Hall - Jazz in Marciac

Jim Hall – Jazz in Marciac (2009). Fragment of the performance of the legendary jazz guitarist Jim Hall, the composition – “Furnished Flats”.

Superbly seconded by Scott Coley on bass and Lewis Nash on drums, Jim Hall, a true living legend of the guitar, is ovationed as soon as he enters and his interpretation all shades of All The Things You Are. The rest of the concert will confirm that the inspiration, the melodic and harmonic finesse are still there, even if the fingers are now hard to follow. The arrival of Kenny Barron (In A Sentimental Mood), then Dave Holland (Obama’s Message, composition of Jim Hall) allows to appreciate some pieces of bravery in duet piano-guitar, bass guitar or two bass. A seductive collage, not a real osmosis. Jim Hall’s solo on Skylark will be released as a reminder. A succession of chorus chords, Barney Kessel. Majestic.

Jim Hall – guitar
Kenny Barron – piano
Scott Coley – double bass
Lewis Nash – drums
