Roberto Menescal (born October 25, 1937) is a Brazilian composer, record producer, guitarist, vocalist, and pioneer of bossa nova.

In many of his songs there are references to the sea, including his best-known composition “O Barquinho” (“Little Boat”). He is also known for work with Carlos Lyra, Nara Leão, Wanda Sá, Ale Vanzella, and many others. Menescal has performed in Latin music genres such as Música popular brasileira (Brazilian pop), bossa nova, and samba. He was nominated for a Latin Grammy for his work with his son’s bossa group Bossacucanova in 2002 and received the 2013 Latin Recording Academy Special Awards in Las Vegas in November 2013.

Capixaba de alma carioca, Roberto Menescal estreou profissionalmente na música aos 18 anos, acompanhando artistas como Silvinha Telles, Maysa e Elis Regina. Em 1958, estourou com uma brilhante carreira de compositor, criando ao lado de nomes como Carlos Lyra, Tom Jobim e Ronaldo Boscoli, a Bossa Nova. A partir daí a “batida diferente” do seu violão afinado se tornou mundialmente conhecida. Autor de canções como “O Barquinho”, “Você” , “Bye Bye Brasil” e “Telefone”, “Rio”. Em 1962 participou do famoso Concerto de Bossa Nova no Carnegie Hall, em New York. Autor de canções como “O Barquinho”, “Você”, “Bye Bye Brasil” e “Telefone”. Com Roberto Menescal (guitarra); Adriano Giffone (contrabaixo); João Cortez (bateria); Adriano Souza (teclado) e Jessé Sadock (trompete).
