The Marcus King Band – Live at The Capitol Theatre (2019). If Stevie Ray Vaughan and Janis Joplin had a love child, I think it would look and sound like that! I am glad that today we are witnessing the formation of the Legend of Rock and Roll. Marcus King is a very rare and special gift from his generation and a wonderful talent. It’s nice to see a group of talented young musicians performing live music.

Marcus started playing guitar at a very early age and at the age of eight performed in concerts with his father. At the age of 13, King was already involved in the recording of his father’s album. The young musician took an academic approach to music, studying his favorite guitarists, particular The Allman Brothers Band co-founder Duane Allman, B.B. King, Albert King, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard. Along the way, Marcus studied jazz theory and jazz performance with Steve Watson at the Greenville Fine Arts Center.

Marcus King became famous after a jam at the Norman Guitars Center, the video from which gained a million views on YouTube. The Marcus King Band, founded in Greenville, South Carolina in 2013, is one of the hardest working groups today.
