Excerpt from Frank Zappa & The Mothers – Live at The Roxy 1973. The band’s work is characterized by use of unusual sound effects, quirky album covers, and a high level of performing arts at concerts. The line-up of group has never been stable and changed frequently. Frank Zappa was only permanent member during entire period of the band’s existence.
During Frank Zappa’s leadership years, the band released several albums that became quite famous, including Absolutely Free, We’re Only in It for the Money and Uncle Meat. The last lineup of The Mothers, Zappa formed in 1973, which included Ralph Humphrey, Sal Marquez, Napoleon Murphy Brock, George Duke, Tom and Bruce Fowler, Ruth and Ian Underwood.
I’ve seen Zappa many times but never seen the same show, always fucking amazing. Music has never been so vulgar and at the same time so exquisite! This music is downright insane. It’s just unrealistic how good that sounds. This is Frank Zappa and The Mothers’ most brilliant lineup.
